your screenshot shows you are in the CS6 Version, here is a workaround, Add shadow to One layer, convert it to smart object then add another shadow to the smart object layer. I don't have a clear way to elminate the 'shape' from the view of the camera, other than, if the airplane only makes a shadow after it has passed the virtual observation point, then the shape would be out of the camera view as well. this can be done faster in the new Photoshop CC where you can add up to 10 shadows on each Layer very easily. Then angle a light such that this shape layer casts a shadow on the text, and the text of course is set up to receive shadows.

Set that shape layer to 3d and 'cast shadows', and move the shape, adjusting for change and perspective, that tracks the real aircraft's path. longshadow aftereffecttutorial effectforyouHey Everyone, welcome back to another after effects tutorial, in this tutorial we are creating 2D long shadow e. but an idea I would try is to create a layer with a shape, that has a reasonable approximation of the shape of the air craft. 3D layer TURNED on and then positioned.I've not done this. In this, After Effects tutorial you will learn how to Create Perfect Shadow in After Effects. The shadow is a duplicate layer of the text with a drop shadow effect. You can change the shadow by changing the intensity and position of the light so. I tried using a light but it didn't fit well so I used a grey to white ramp to mimic the lighting. This is a quick tutorial showing how to create real shadow in After Effects. Not sure how This will work but it's my next attempt. I'm going to try and pre-comp the text layer with a light and turn cast shadows on and actually cast a shadow.
